WELCOME TO WORSHIP Pete & Jenna Olson
CALL TO WORSHIP
TGIS, friends– Thank God it’s Sunday!
This week we’ve been tested-
Tested!
We’ve been tried-
Tried!
We may have been trampled-
Trampled!
But we come as God’s people!
That means we come beloved-
Beloved!
We come comforted-
Comforted!
We come come equipped-
Equipped!
We come spiritually ready to meet the challenge
of each new day as a gift of Grace-
A gift from God.
And so we come in Gratitude.
Gratitude!
Let us worship. Amen.
OPENING TO GOD Cynthia Wilson, mod
Creator God, we come into your presence this morning
with hearts of thanksgiving,
and mouths filled with praise!
Loving God, in spite of the turmoil and tragedy
we have witnessed this year,
In spite of the pain and struggle of witnessing
pandemic, poverty, inequality, child abuse, racism, sexism,
children and infants separated from parents caged like animals,
government leaders who remind us daily that we are not judged
by the content of our character, but by the color of our skin,
In spite of all these things, You are still a miracle-working God,
In spite of all of this, You remain faithful!
In spite of all of this, you are still our healer, our comforter,
our provider and protector.
And so, we come in humility, adoration with worshipful hearts,
Giving you honor, thanks and praise,
rejoicing, for ALL of who you are,
In the Name of Your Son, Our Brother, Jesus, The Christ.
Amen and Amen
YOUNG PEOPLE’S MESSAGE Danielle Sturgeon & Family
EPISTLE I Thessalonians 15:15-18
Always seek what is good for each other—
and for all people.
Rejoice always,
pray without ceasing,
and give thanks for everything—
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK Mary Oliver
My work is loving the world.
Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird –
equal seekers of sweetness.
Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums.
Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.
Are my boots old? Is my coat torn?
Am I no longer young and still not half-perfect? Let me
keep my mind on what matters,
which is my work,
which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.
The phoebe, the delphinium.
The sheep in the pasture, and the pasture.
Which is mostly rejoicing, since all ingredients are here,
Which is gratitude, to be given a mind and a heart
and these body-clothes,
a mouth with which to give shouts of joy
to the moth and the wren, to the sleepy dug-up clam,
telling them all, over and over, how it is
that we live forever.
