WELCOME FROM THE DRURY FAMILY
CALL TO WORSHIP Africana Worship, modified
People of God, lift up your heads!
Our God with us is greater than Pharaoh against us.
We lift up our heads!
Today we are persuaded that
Neither sandstorm nor scarcity
Neither desert nor despair
Neither parched place nor poverty
Will be able to separate us from the love of God!
People of God, lift up your hearts!
God is our Shade and God is our Shield.
We lift up our hearts!
Today we are persuaded that
Neither crisis nor Covid,
Injustice nor joblessness,
Sickness nor skepticism,
Wildfires in the west nor wickedness in Washington,
Neither drought nor hurricane storm,
Will be able to turn us away from God who has sustained us!
People of God, lift up your hands!
Praise God on sunny days and praise God on cloudy days!
We lift our hands to praise our God!
We thank God for giving us another day.
For we believe,
That those who hunger and thirst for righteousness
will eventually be filled. (Matthew 5:6)
We believe,
That God is able to give us water from a rock! (Exodus 17:6)
We believe,
That we will live to see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13)
For we believe that God is with us! Glory to God! Amen!

When you encourage; I am willing
When you set the challenge; I am willing
When you blow my mind; I am willing
When you reach out your hand; I am willing
When you apply the brakes; I am willing
When you change my course; I am willing
When you turn the tide; I am willing
When you call another; I am willing
When you call me; I am willing
Through it all, I am willing
YOUNG PEOPLE’S MESSAGE Danielle Sturgeon
HEBREW SCRIPTURES Exodus 17
From the wilderness of Sin the whole congregation of the Israelites journeyed by stages, as the Lord commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.
The people quarrelled with Moses, and said, ‘Give us water to drink.’ Moses said to them, ‘Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?’ But the people thirsted there for water; and the people complained against Moses and said, ‘Why did you bring us out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and livestock with thirst?’
So Moses cried out to the Lord, ‘What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me.’ The Lord said to Moses, ‘Go on ahead of the people, and take some of the elders of Israel with you; take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. I will be standing there in front of you on the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it, so that the people may drink.’
Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel. He called the place Massah and Meribah, because the Israelites quarrelled and tested the Lord, saying, ‘Is the Lord among us or not?’

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK
Help me empty myself, Lord,
Of things that resist your will.
Like pride and selfishness
Ego and worldly ambition.
Help me empty myself, Lord,
So that I can stumble my way
Into your plans for me.
To extend healing hands to the hurting,
To speak words of comfort to those who mourn,
To keep watch with my eyes on behalf of the powerless.
To cradle the forlorn in your love.
Help me empty myself, Lord.
You empty me.
So that Christ may be seen in my life.
