In comparison with this big world,
the human heart is only a small thing.
Though the world is so large,
it is utterly unable to satisfy this tiny heart.
The ever-growing soul and its capacity
can be satisfied only in the infinite God.
As water is restless until it reaches its level,
so the soul has not peace until it rests in God.Sundar Singh

WELCOME from a church wall in Mexico
Give us this day, Señor,
Give us this day, Señor,
a little sun, a little happiness, and some work.
Give us this day, Señor,
a heart to comfort those in pain.
Give us this day, Señor,
the ability to be good, strong, wise and free,
Give us this day, Señor,
So that we may be as generous with others
as we are with ourselves.
Give us this day, Señor,
that we may all live as your own one family. Amen.
OPENING TO GOD John Winn
O God,
too much of my life is consumed in hostility.
Yet, I am not comfortable with hate,
not my own or anyone else’s.
I am learning that I cannot hate someone else
without loving myself less.
You have shown me how love
always wins and never loses,
always finds and never loses,
always saves and never loses.
Show me again how love can break through
any barrier, dissolve hate, and bring even
the lion and the lamb within me together.
Teach me to make love, all kinds,
and not hate, any kind.
In memory of the one
whose name is Love,
Amen
GOSPEL Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30
“But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.’ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon’; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”
(Luke’s parallel: “Wisdom is vindicated by her children.”)
At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
