What Does Sunday Look Like?

“The glory of God is a human being fully alive,”  – Irenaeus.

Worship at Essex Center United Methodist Church strives to bring together mind and heart with the best of ancient and contemporary music, liturgy and spirituality.

EUMC_exteriorYou may hear Psalms that are thousands of years old call us to worship God. There may be silent prayer to center our souls and open our hearts to the Spirit’s presence. One can expect readings from the Hebrew Scriptures and New Testament, thoughtful Biblical preaching to challenge and encourage, shared prayers to lift up joys and concerns, and shared opportunities to live out our faith in the world.

God loves all music, and so do we! So you might hear contemporary praise music, classic hymns, djembe drumming, Celtic ballads, Vivaldi on acoustic guitar, Taizé chant, choral anthem, or bluegrass harmonies. (Maybe all on the same Sunday!)

We also bring projected visual arts to the worship experience each week: paintings, photographs, or video clips that might help shape a spiritual mood or convey a biblical thought.

We strive for worship that pleases God, transforms hearts and minds, and challenges us constantly to grow more and more into the fully alive people God yearns for us to be.

Each Sunday morning we gather for worship at 10:00 A.M.  The service is family-friendly with  music, a Young People’s Message, and Nursery and Sunday School provided. We gather for coffee fellowship before and after each service.
